End-to-End Administrative Support for Interdisciplinary Research Teams

In line with its 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, Boğaziçi University offers full financial, legal, and operational support to research bringing different disciplines together.

1. Strategic Focus and Priority Areas

Our university's research strategy aims to create added value for society and the economy. Based on the synergy of "Informatics, Biotechnology, and Economics", specific interdisciplinary areas have been recognized as strategic priorities to produce innovative solutions to global problems. Projects in these areas are prioritized in administrative and financial support mechanisms.

Chart Analysis: Equal Weight Vision

The polar area chart on the left shows the priority interdisciplinary themes in the university's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. The equal size of the slices represents the equivalent strategic importance these areas carry in the university's vision and the institutional focus dedicated to them.

💡 Key Takeaway: When research teams produce projects in these seven core areas, they secure the direct strategic support of the institution.

2. Administrative Management and Coordination Network

The success of interdisciplinary research requires strong central coordination. Boğaziçi University has structured all processes, from determining policies to managing laboratory infrastructure, through participatory supreme boards and coordination directorates.

3. Focus Analysis of Financial Support Units

The needs of research teams vary depending on the project type. Our institution distributes the tasks of budget management, grant finding, and executing commercial contracts among three main professional units (SRP, TTO, Revolving Fund), allowing teams to focus solely on science.

Chart Analysis: Functional Distribution

The radar chart on the right shows which administrative operations the support units specialize in. While SRP focuses on opening new research areas with internal resources; TTO provides full-capacity service in external grants, patents, and industry projects, and the Revolving Fund provides the financial infrastructure for industrial consultancy.

💡 Key Takeaway: A research team is never left alone at any stage, from finding funds to patenting; there is a specialized administrative counterpart for each step.

4. TTO End-to-End Service Process

Bureaucracy and legal processes, the biggest challenges of interdisciplinary projects, are resolved through the structured stages of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO). The transformation of an idea into a fund, and a fund into a patent is systematically supported.
