Environment and Sustainability Studies (2023)
Boğaziçi University carries out various projects, centres and initiatives in the field of environment and sustainability to find solutions to local and global problems. The university's environmental and sustainability policies aim to take concrete steps on issues such as the protection of natural resources, waste management and the use of clean energy on and off campus.
Sustainable Development and Cleaner Production Research Centre
Boğaziçi University's Sustainable Development and Cleaner Production Research Centre aims to increase efficiency and reduce resource inputs in the production and service sectors by providing cleaner production technologies. The Centre carries out studies to minimise risks to the environment.

SDSN Youth-Boğaziçi University Cooperation
SDSN Youth Turkey, with the support of Boğaziçi University, works to raise awareness of young people towards sustainable development goals. ‘#KnowYourGoals’ campaign is one of the activities organised for this purpose.

Community Engagement and Outreach
Boğaziçi University collaborates with local and national communities to achieve sustainability goals in agriculture and tourism. BOUN Agriculture and Food Summit 2023 contributes to communities as a platform to discuss innovations and sustainability strategies in supply chain management from agriculture to food. In this summit, topics such as sustainable practices, productivity, biological control in the agriculture and food sector are covered.

Climate Change and Policy Research Centre
Working on the local and regional impacts of climate change and its policies, the centre produces solutions on issues such as energy, agriculture, and climate adaptation.
Green Campus and Green Building Certificate Applications
Aiming to improve energy efficiency, recycling and natural resource management through Green Campus initiatives, Boğaziçi University has taken important steps towards becoming a carbon neutral campus. There are buildings on campus that have been awarded with LEED Certificate.
Carbon and Water Footprint Studies
Boğaziçi University continues the studies initiated in 2011 to measure the carbon and water footprint and conducts water footprint analyses for dormitory buildings.

Wind Power Plant (BÜRES)
The wind power plant established at Kilyos Sarıtepe Campus has made Boğaziçi University the first university campus to meet all its electricity needs from wind energy.

Integrated Solid Waste Management
Boğaziçi University produces sustainable solutions for the management of recyclable and hazardous waste generated on campuses.
Kilyos Sarıtepe Campus Nature School and Ecological Literacy Project

Tarlataban, the nature-friendly agriculture movement of Boğaziçi University, produces sustainable food with collective labour.
BountoGreen
BountoGreen, which received an award in the ‘StudentsGoGreen’ competition held for the first time in Turkey, collected 1 ton 650 kg of e-waste in 3 months and recycled it.

Boğaziçi University Underwater Sports Club (BÜSAS) carries out projects to raise environmental awareness and clean the seas through underwater cleaning projects.
