BOĞAZİÇİ UNIVERSITY HEALTH CENTER
Boğaziçi University Health Center provides free of charge primary care outpatient diagnostic and treatment services to students. In this context, doctor, dentist, dietician and nursing services are provided; first intervention is provided in emergencies. ECG, injections, dressings, serum, oxygen and steam applications, as well as vital signs such as fever, pulse and blood pressure are monitored as instructed by the doctor.

“HEALTH AT THE TOP OF EVERYTHING” INITIATIVE
Boğaziçi University, in cooperation with the General Secretariat and Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship, conducted a health screening for 400 employees for the first time in 2022. Organized with the slogan “Healthy Personnel, Healthy Work”, the screening was organized to protect the health of employees, inform them about the issues they should pay attention to while working, and take precautions against existing and potential health problems.

FIRST AID TRAININGS
First aid trainings are organized by the Health and Guidance Department in order for all campus stakeholders to gain first aid skills in all kinds of crisis situations (natural disasters, terrorist acts, sudden threats, diseases and accidents, etc.). The trainings are planned in the form of 16-hour basic first aid training or 2-4-hour seminars to raise awareness in order to develop skills in line with the need and demand. In 2023, 27 people received basic first aid training and 857 people received first aid awareness seminars.

RAMADAN SPORTS EXERCISES
The healthy life exercises organized by Boğaziçi University Sports Branch Directorate and continuing throughout the month of Ramadan are accompanied by coaches, and staff members can participate in the exercise programs with their families.

WALK 5000 STEPS AND EAT BREAKFAST
For the walking event organized at Kilyos Sarıtepe Campus, Boğaziçi University staff can participate with their families and relatives. After a walk along Kilyos Beach in the air with plenty of oxygen, breakfast is served.

Information and Education Services for Students
Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services
Boğaziçi University Health, Culture and Sports Department, Health and Guidance Branch Directorate provides free information and services to students on sexual and reproductive health. These services include:
- Counselling Services: Individual counselling by specialised health personnel in accordance with the principle of confidentiality.
- Information and Education Programmes: Seminars and workshops on sexual and reproductive health, sexually transmitted diseases and birth control methods.
- Health Services: Examination and treatment within the scope of outpatient clinic.
- Free Services: All health services are free of charge.
- Appointment System: Services are provided by appointment for dietitian and dental health.

Boğaziçi University: ‘Health at the Top of Everything’ Initiative

The Health and Guidance Branch Directorate under the Boğaziçi University Health, Culture and Sports Department organises comprehensive first aid trainings to ensure that all campus stakeholders can effectively respond to possible crisis situations. These trainings aim to be prepared for natural disasters (such as earthquakes, floods, fires), acts of terrorism, sudden threats, infectious diseases, accidents and other emergencies.
Within the scope of the trainings, basic first aid skills are acquired and the participants are trained to make correct and rapid intervention. Participants learn and practice vital information such as respiratory and circulatory support, bleeding control, fracture-dislocation intervention, burn treatment. In addition, skills such as staying calm in a crisis, effective communication and coordination are developed, maximising both individual and community safety.
These first aid trainings are open to all stakeholders, including students, academic and administrative staff of the university, and are carried out regularly with the aim of maintaining safety and health on campus in the event of any kind of crisis. The training programmes are conducted in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Health and participants receive first aid certificates at the end of the training.
In this way, Boğaziçi University aims to raise individuals who are equipped not only academically but also in terms of social resilience and crisis management.

Walk 5000 Steps Have Breakfast
In line with its Health and Quality Life goals, Boğaziçi University organises various activities that support the health and well-being of its staff and their relatives. In this context, the walking event held at Kilyos Sarıtepe Campus was organised to promote healthy lifestyles and increase participation in physical activity.
On the day of the event, participants are transported from the South Campus to Kilyos by vehicles and walk along the Kilyos Beach in an environment with plenty of oxygen and in touch with nature. This walk is planned as an activity that aims not only physical activity but also mental relaxation. Participants have the opportunity to walk in a relaxing environment in the open air to relieve stress and get away from the daily busy pace.
After the walk, a breakfast is organised and participants can continue their day with a healthy and nutritious meal while having social interaction. This activity also contributes to the strengthening of family ties and the development of community awareness, as the personnel can participate with their families and relatives.
