LIVING WAGE

In line with the economic development policy of the Republic of Turkey, Boğaziçi University has a personnel guideline that determines the salary of all academic and administrative staff. Each employee will receive the salary specified in their employment contract. All employees are eligible to receive this salary from the date of their employment and salaries are paid monthly. Below is an example of an academic staff salary calculation by job class, salary grade, job title, salary step and educational status. The salaries of academics and civil servants calculated according to these conditions are given in the table below.

Promotional Agreement Signed for Employees at Boğaziçi University

A new promotional agreement has been signed between Boğaziçi University and Garanti BBVA Bank under the existing salary payment protocol. The agreement, officially announced at a ceremony attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Naci İnci, updates the promotional amount to be provided to staff, which has been set at a total of 21,000 TL.

Under the new agreement, the promotional difference payments previously made to Boğaziçi University staff will be deposited into their bank accounts starting from 5 April 2024. This development is considered an important step towards enhancing the financial rights of employees and strengthening support for university staff.

Additional Financial Support Mechanisms

In addition to salary policies established in accordance with national legislation, Boğaziçi University provides additional support mechanisms to improve the welfare of employees and their families. As part of this, the University’s Commission on Relations with Schools signs cooperation agreements with selected educational institutions each year. Alumni, academic, and administrative staff are granted tuition discounts for their children at partner schools. The list of partner schools and the discount rates applicable for the relevant year are announced by the University and shared with the university community.

Employment with a Livable Wage

The salaries of academic and administrative staff working at Boğaziçi University are determined in accordance with the Civil Servants Law No. 657, Higher Education Personnel Law No. 2914 and other relevant legislation. Salaries are regulated on the basis of criteria such as service class, staff grade, job title and education level of the personnel. Salary increases are made every year according to the rates announced within the framework of the Central Government Budget Law and Collective Labour Agreements. These regulations ensure that the salary policy of the university is in line with the rates determined by the state and secures the rights of the staff.
