Conservation of Ecosystems and Biodiversity

Boğaziçi University directly works to protect plant and animal ecosystems and sustain biodiversity. The University takes an active role in collaborating with research projects and industries to protect and expand threatened ecosystems.

Direct Activities of the University:

1. Wildlife Conservation Commission: This commission manages Boğaziçi University's work on local flora and fauna. These studies are aimed at protecting ecosystems and increasing biodiversity.

2. Sustainable Green Campus Practices Commission: This commission promotes sustainable environmental practices on the university campus and carries out studies on the protection of ecosystems on campus.

3. INDEPENDENT Project: This project, led by Boğaziçi University, develops microalgae-based sustainable solutions in the fields of energy, food, health, agriculture, animal husbandry and environmental technologies. The project focuses on advanced wastewater treatment and environmentally friendly technologies to protect threatened ecosystems and biodiversity.

4. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Summit: By organising a summit on sustainable agriculture and food, the University aims to increase productivity in the agricultural sector and promote sustainable production methods.

Academic and Research Work:

  • Microalgae Biotechnology Research: Boğaziçi University conducts research on the development of environmentally friendly products and sustainable agricultural methods using microalgae. These researches make important contributions to the development of bio-fertilisers and bio-stimulant products to be used in the food, agriculture and environment sectors.

These studies carried out by Boğaziçi University contribute to environmental protection and sustainability goals by taking important steps towards the protection of ecosystems and the continuity of biodiversity.
