Publication Holdings

  • A user who wishes to borrow an item that has been borrowed by someone else or is available (in storage) can reserve it on his/her own behalf by accessing the library web page via the internet or by coming to the library and informing the staff at the lending department.
  • The lending of the reserved material depends on the return date of the borrower. The first borrower may return the item at the end of the period or earlier.
  • When the reserved item is returned, an e-mail is sent to the next user informing him/her that the item is on hold for him/her and that he/she can pick it up.
  • The reserved item returned to the library must be collected from the lending desk within 7 days. Materials not collected within this period are placed on the shelves.

Extension of Loan Period

  • If the borrowed material is not reserved by someone else (request), the borrowing period can be extended. The loan period of an item can be extended 2 times via the web.
  • Extending the return date is not done over the phone.
  • The borrowing period should be extended before the expiry date of the material to be extended. Faculty members can make an extension from 21 days before the expiry of the loan period, and users with other status can make an extension from 7 days before the expiry of the loan period.
  • Each user must make the extension process of the material he/she brings to the library at the lending desk.

Overdue Fines

  • Overdue fines will be charged for materials not returned to the library by the due date. For reserve materials lent for two hours, overdue fines are applied for each hour overdue. Overdue fines are charged on days when the library is open. No fines are charged for public holidays and other days when the library is closed.
  • Readers who have overdue books or who have not paid overdue fines will not receive new books.

Boğaziçi University's Open Source Contribution to Turkish Natural Language Processing: TULAP Platform Now Available

The Turkish Natural Language Processing Platform (TULAP), developed as a result of a multidisciplinary study conducted by academics from the Computer Engineering and Linguistics departments at Boğaziçi University, is now available as open source for researchers.

TULAP aims to address the lack of data and tools in the field of Turkish natural language processing (NLP). Through the platform, various data sets, software tools, and models developed at Boğaziçi University are made available to researchers free of charge. Users can try out the tools on TULAP's demo page and easily integrate these resources into their own projects using Docker-based commands via GitHub.

Dr. Suzan Üsküdarlı, one of the project leaders, emphasised that access to resources in the field of Turkish NLP is limited and that TULAP is an important step towards filling this gap. Prof. Dr. Tunga Güngör also stated that efforts and support are ongoing to further develop the platform.

TULAP aims to make Turkish NLP research more accessible and sustainable by providing a resource that can be used for both academic and industrial projects.
